Primary 6 MATH

About this class

At Primary 6, Algebra is introduced to bridge the learning stages between primary and secondary mathematics. Students will be exposed to problems sums that require abstract, critical, logical, and creative thinking. The formulation of equations without models will be introduced as the complexity of the brain is developed to tackle highly abstract questions.

New topics include:

  • Circles
  • Speed
  • Pie charts
  • Nets

Existing topics will also be covered in-depth, with emphasis placed on speed and accuracy to prepare students for PSLE.

The PSLE Primary 6 Maths Tuition curriculum begins with a quick flashback of concepts learned in Algebra, Fractions, Ratio, and Percentage. These topics carry a big weight in PSLE Maths papers. We will also share some of the new trends in Maths testing such as using everyday objects and authentic situations.

TCHER Online’s Maths tuition combines skilled, MoE-trained teachers familiar with the syllabus and key strategies to help your child learn. Our teaching involves:

  • The C-P-A Approach (concrete-pictoral-abstract) is a system of learning that uses physical and visual aids to build a child’s understanding of abstract topics.
  • Polya’s 4-Step Approach to problem-solving.
  • Differentiated Teaching – teaching the same material to all students using a variety of instructional strategies.
  • Effective Questioning (Bloom’s Taxonomy) is one of the most recognised and used educational tools that attempt to move students beyond simple memorisation.
  • Error analysis.

We also encourage student reflections to help them understand why they need to learn the subject matter at hand which in turn helps motivate them to learn and enjoy the learning process. We also provide timely feedback so that students can act upon any weaknesses before they become a bigger problem.

We aim to boost your child’s confidence by familiarising them with commonly tested exam questions so that they are fully prepared for school assessments and ultimately the PSLE Primary 6 Maths challenge.

Class schedule (Available for Standard and Premium Package)

There are 2 types of Primary 6 classes:

  1. Lectures
  2. Tutorials

Lectures have larger class sizes, while tutorials have smaller class sizes capped at 6 students per class.

Each lecture is an hour of intensive content teaching on key topics and concepts, while tutorials allow our TCHERs to dive deeper into hands-on practices and give students more individualised feedback.

Please note that tutorials are not standalone. You will need to attend lectures to be able to join the tutorial classes.

TCHER ONline Academy (Available for Basic, Standard and Premium)

Have a tight schedule that can’t accommodate weekly lessons? Our TCHER ONline Academy provides you with the flexibility of recorded lessons you can play back anytime, anywhere.
